Pakistan has offered to send both skilled and unskilled workers to Europe as it reached a joint understanding with Italy, Spain and Greece to curb illegal migration.
Interior Minister Mohsin Naqvi led a Pakistani delegation to a migration dialogue held in Rome, where his counterparts from Italy, Spain and Greece also participated. The meeting focused on promoting legal migration channels and discouraging human smuggling networks.
Italy’s Interior Minister Matteo Piantedosi, Spain’s Interior Minister Fernando Grande-Marlaska and Greece’s Migration Minister Athanasios Plevris appreciated Pakistan’s efforts to reduce illegal migration, especially through sea routes. Officials noted a visible decline in irregular arrivals of Pakistanis in Europe via maritime pathways.
Naqvi thanked Italy for allocating 10,500 job opportunities for Pakistani workers. He said European countries should encourage regular and legal pathways for people seeking overseas employment so that illegal routes can be effectively blocked.

During the meeting, it was also decided that criminals involved in serious offenses would be deported from Europe back to Pakistan, where they would face legal action under Pakistani law. The four countries agreed to continue close coordination, and the next meeting is expected to be held in Pakistan soon.
Greek and Spanish ministers assured that employment opportunities would be provided to Pakistani nationals. The dialogue marked a significant step toward structured labor mobility and stronger cooperation against illegal immigration.
