Kerosene price rises again, adding pressure on household budgets
Kerosene price has been increased by Rs1.49 per litre, adding to the financial burden on households that rely on the fuel for cooking, heating and other daily needs.
According to a notification issued by the Oil and Gas Regulatory Authority (Ogra), the new price of kerosene oil has been fixed at Rs282.19 per litre, compared with the previous rate of Rs280.70 per litre.
The revised price came into effect immediately from Friday and is applicable across the country.
The latest increase comes only days after a much larger adjustment in petroleum product prices. Last week, the price of kerosene was raised by Rs8.70 per litre, taking the cumulative increase over a short period to more than Rs10 per litre.
Kerosene remains an important fuel source, particularly in remote and mountainous regions where access to natural gas is limited. Many low-income families also use it for cooking and heating, making price changes especially significant for household budgets.
Industry observers say fluctuations in international oil prices and changes in import costs often influence domestic fuel rates. Ogra periodically reviews petroleum prices and forwards recommendations based on global market trends and exchange rate movements.
The latest increase is expected to raise transportation and energy costs for some consumers, while concerns continue over the broader impact of fuel price adjustments on inflation.
Consumers and businesses are closely watching future petroleum price reviews amid uncertainty in global energy markets and rising living costs.
