How Saudi Arabia’s new Hajj 2027 rules improve pilgrim services
The Ministry of Tourism has approved new regulations covering accommodation activities, licensing and classification standards for the Hajj season.
New standards for accommodation facilities
The updated rules apply to facilities that will host pilgrims in Makkah and Madinah during Hajj 2027.
The ministry has also approved a schedule of violations for accommodation facilities to strengthen compliance with the new requirements.
The rules require facilities to prove that they are operationally ready before receiving pilgrims.
They must also meet safety and maintenance standards and ensure essential services remain available throughout the Hajj season.
Inspection and service requirements
The updated standards divide Hajj accommodation facilities into economy and first-class categories, with separate requirements for each level.
The rules cover rooms, reception areas, common spaces, cleanliness, maintenance and guest services.
Facilities will face several stages of inspection and monitoring to check compliance with the requirements.
These checks will take place before licensing, before operations begin and during the accommodation period.
Ministry urges early preparation
Ministry of Tourism Spokesperson Nasr Alansari said the changes are designed to strengthen the regulatory and operational system for Hajj accommodation.
The aim is to ensure facilities are properly prepared and able to provide pilgrims with a safe and well-organized stay.
The ministry said serving pilgrims is a shared and national responsibility with a history extending back hundreds of years.
It said the updated standards are intended to improve hospitality services while reflecting Saudi Arabia’s continued commitment to serving pilgrims.
Early action urged for Hajj 2027
The ministry has asked those seeking licenses for Hajj 2027 accommodation facilities to start meeting the requirements as early as possible.
Applicants have also been urged to complete maintenance and other preparation work before submitting their license applications.
Early preparation could help facilities meet the required standards without facing delays during the licensing process.
The updated rules are expected to give authorities more control over accommodation quality and help pilgrims receive better services during Hajj 2027.
