(Web Desk): Astronomers at the Al-Ajiri Scientific Center have released an early prediction about the sighting of the Shawwal moon across Gulf countries.

According to reports in Arab media, scientific calculations show that the Shawwal moon is unlikely to appear on the evening corresponding to the 29th day of Ramadan. Their calculations suggest that people waiting to spot the moon on the evening of March 18 may not see it in the sky. Experts explained that the moon’s position and timing make visibility very difficult, if not impossible, on that evening.

The center further explained that in Kuwait and most nearby countries, the moon is expected to set before sunset on the sighting day. Because of this, it would not be physically possible for observers to spot the crescent in the sky. This technical detail is one of the main reasons why astronomers believe the moon will not be visible that evening.

Experts also shared another important detail about the moon’s birth. According to their calculations, the new moon will actually be born at about 4:23 AM Kuwait time on March 19.

Because of these astronomical factors, Ramadan is expected to complete a full 30 days this year. If this prediction holds true, March 19 will likely be the final day of Ramadan in many Gulf countries.

As a result, Eid al-Fitr is expected to begin on March 20, bringing celebrations, prayers, and gatherings after a month of fasting.

However, the Al-Ajiri Scientific Center clarified that these are only scientific predictions. The official start of Hijri months will still be announced by authorized national authorities, who follow approved Islamic moon sighting methods to confirm the final decision.
