Officials said vehicles without insurance will not be registered, and their token tax will also not be accepted. The move is part of the government’s effort to ensure financial protection for people affected by road accidents.
According to the spokesperson for Chief Minister Murad Ali Shah, the government has added a new section to the Sindh Motor Vehicle Ordinance 2025. This amendment provides financial compensation to victims of traffic accidents and their families.
Under the new policy, the family of a person who dies in a road accident will receive Rs700,000 as compensation. In cases where a person becomes permanently disabled due to an accident, financial support of Rs500,000 will be given.

Authorities said the main goal of the initiative is to provide financial security to accident victims, especially families who struggle after losing their main earning member.
The chief minister has directed the Excise and Taxation Department to strictly enforce the new law. Officials will also ensure that vehicle ownership cannot be transferred without a valid insurance policy.
Murad Ali Shah described the project as an important step toward improving road safety and protecting citizens. He said the law will help low-income families who are often left without support after serious accidents.
He added that the new digital monitoring system is designed to be transparent and secure. It will help authorities prevent fake insurance policies and ensure that only genuine coverage is accepted.
