On June 27, 2025, a new regulation will come into effect as per the statement issued by the Saudi General Directorate of Passports (Jawazat). The "Tawasul" service on the "Absher" platform will allow expatriates currently living in Saudi Arabia to apply for an extension through the Tawasul service regardless of the type of visit visa.

According to Saudia Authorities visit visas will be extended for a month after the payment of penalties and required fees. Expatriates will be able to return home after receiving the extension and won t sustain additional punishment. The aim of the facility is to protect people that have overstayed their visit from high fines, legal complications and other penalties.
