10 Eidul Azha 2026 holidays as long break from May 25 announced
The extended break is expected to bring relief and excitement for employees and students.
According to the Federal Authority for Government Human Resources, holidays for public sector employees will begin on May 25. All government offices will remain closed until May 29.
Official activities across the UAE will resume from June 1 after the holiday break. Authorities said the decision was made for Eidul Azha and Youm-e-Arafah celebrations.
Meanwhile, a special public moon sighting event has also been announced in Dubai for observing the Zil Hajj moon. The event will take place on May 17 at Jebel Nizwa Trail from 5pm until sunset.

The Islamic Affairs and Charitable Activities Department said a large number of residents are expected to attend the moon sighting gathering. The event is aimed at increasing public participation in Islamic traditions.
Astronomy experts believe Zil Hajj is likely to begin from May 18. Chairman of the Emirates Astronomy Society Ibrahim Al Jarwan said the new moon will be born at 12:01am on May 17.
However, officials clarified that the final decision will be announced by the moon sighting committee. Expected dates suggest Youm-e-Arafah may fall on May 26 while Eid ul Adha could be celebrated on May 27.
The Ministry of Education has also confirmed that mid-term school holidays will merge with Eid ul Adha vacations. Students, teachers, and administrative staff will remain off from May 25 to May 29.
Private schools in Dubai will also follow the same holiday schedule. Authorities said educational activities will restart from June 1.
The Sharjah Private Education Authority announced that private educational institutions in Sharjah will remain closed from May 25 to May 28. With weekend holidays included, students in Sharjah may enjoy up to 10 days off.

The long Eid ul Adha holidays are likely to increase travel and family activities across the UAE. The extended school break may also boost tourism and shopping during the festive period.
