(Web Desk): The University of Tokyo ADB Scholarship 2026 is officially open for application, a fully funded master’s program supported by the Asian Development Bank (ADB).

The University of Tokyo ADB Scholarship covers all expenses, including tuition fees, travel costs, a monthly allowance, medical insurance, and even a research or thesis grant. Applicants from ADB member countries, including Pakistan, can apply to study at one of the world’s top universities — the University of Tokyo.

Eligibility Criteria

To qualify for the ADB–Japan Scholarship Program (ADB–JSP) at the University of Tokyo, applicants must meet the following requirements:

  • Be a citizen of an ADB borrowing member country (such as Pakistan).
  • Hold a bachelor’s degree or equivalent from a recognized institution.
  • Have at least two years of full-time professional work experience in a related field.
  • Be under 35 years of age at the time of application.
  • Commit to return and work in their home country for at least two years after graduation.
  • Not already hold a master’s degree.
  • Those planning for PhD studies later are advised to apply for the MEXT Scholarship instead.

Required Documents

Applicants must submit all documents, except recommendation letters, via the official Google Form by December 10, 2025:

  • Completed Application Form (GSFS)
  • Field of Study and Research Plan
  • Academic Transcripts (official or attested copies)
  • Graduation Certificate (official or attested copy)
  • Two Recommendation Letters (to be emailed directly by referees with the subject “ADB recommendation letter_Applicant Name”)

Application Process

Candidates must first contact potential supervisors within the Graduate School of Frontier Sciences (GSFS) or related departments, listing up to five preferred supervisors on their form. Eligible departments include:

  • Natural Environmental Studies
  • Graduate Program in Sustainability Science (GPSS)
  • Ocean Technology, Policy, and Environment
  • Environment Systems
  • Human and Engineered Environmental Studies
  • Socio-Cultural Environmental Studies
  • International Studies

Once a supervisor is confirmed, all required documents should be uploaded to the Google Form by December 10, 2025, while referees must send recommendation letters directly to the International Liaison Office.
