Islamabad (Web Desk): Iran has agreed to allow 20 more Pakistani ships to pass through the Strait of Hormuz, offering relief during ongoing regional tensions.

Deputy Prime Minister and Foreign Minister Ishaq Dar shared the update, saying that two Pakistani ships will cross the strait daily under this new arrangement. He described the move as a “constructive gesture” by Iran.

Dar said, “This is a welcome and constructive gesture by Iran and deserves appreciation. It is a harbinger of peace and will help usher stability in the region.” He also stressed that such steps can strengthen efforts toward peace.

The Strait of Hormuz is one of the world’s most important oil routes, but tensions in the region have made it risky for ships. Many vessels avoided the route due to fears of attacks and threats.

Reports suggest that nearly 16 attacks have damaged at least 17 commercial ships since the conflict began. Around 1,900 to 2,000 ships are still stuck in the region, showing how serious the situation has become.

Despite this, a few ships, including Pakistani and Indian vessels, have managed to pass safely after receiving assurances from Iran.

At the same time, Pakistan is playing an important diplomatic role. Islamabad is helping to pass messages between Iran and the United States as tensions continue.

Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif recently held a detailed call with Iran’s president, while foreign ministers from Saudi Arabia, Egypt, and Turkey have gathered in Islamabad for talks.

These meetings aim to reduce tensions and find a peaceful solution to the conflict. Pakistan has even offered to host possible talks between the US and Iran.

Officials believe such diplomatic efforts, along with steps like allowing ships safe passage, could help calm the situation in the region.
