(Web Desk): Iran claims its strike destroyed an advanced US surveillance aircraft as regional tensions escalate, though officials have not independently confirmed the incident.

The Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps (IRGC) has claimed that recent attacks resulted in 500 US troops killed or injured, marking a significant escalation in the ongoing US-Iran conflict. These claims have not been independently verified by US officials.

According to Iranian sources, the operations targeted multiple US military assets and positions across the region.

F-16 Jet and MQ-9 Drone Reportedly Shot Down

Iranian officials stated that an American F-16 fighter jet was shot down during the latest engagements. In addition, Iran claims to have destroyed a high-value MQ-9 Reaper drone in Shiraz, located in Iran’s Fars province.

The IRGC also released purported video footage showing the downing of the drone, although its authenticity remains unverified.

Reports of AWACS Surveillance Aircraft Destroyed in Saudi Arabia

Unconfirmed reports suggest that an advanced US surveillance aircraft equipped with Airborne Warning and Control System (AWACS) technology was destroyed following an Iranian missile strike near Prince Sultan Air Base in Saudi Arabia.

These aircraft play a crucial role in:

  • Long-range radar detection
  • Airspace monitoring
  • Command and control operations

Defense analysts warn that the loss of such an aircraft could significantly impact US surveillance capabilities in the Gulf region.

The strikes were reportedly in response to earlier attacks on Iranian steel plants, signaling a widening scope of economic and industrial warfare in the region.

IRGC Issues Warning Over Future Attacks

The IRGC warned that any further attacks on Iranian infrastructure would trigger a stronger and more severe response, including targeting US and allied industrial and military assets in the region, as well as sites in occupied Palestinian territories.

  • The destruction of the AWACS aircraft
  • The reported casualties

Analysts caution that such claims should be treated carefully until verified, but note that if confirmed, these developments could significantly escalate tensions in the Middle East.

Security experts believe the situation could lead to:

  • Increased military deployments
  • Heightened regional instability
  • Expanded conflict zones across the Gulf
