Eight fatalities reported after storms spark landslides in China, search continues for missing people.
State media agency Xinhua, citing Hubei's emergency management authorities, reported that all eight fatalities occurred in the province after severe convective weather unleashed powerful thunderstorms and gale-force winds across its eastern areas on Monday night.
The extreme weather affected the cities of Huangshi, Huanggang, Ezhou and Xianning, where local officials said some locations were also struck by tornadoes.

The latest bout of severe convective weather caused extensive damage across three communities in Huanggang's Huangzhou district.
By Tuesday morning, the number of people injured had risen to 275.
Local authorities evacuated more than 400 residents from the affected neighborhoods to safer locations as emergency operations continued.
In northwestern Gansu province, a landslide left several people unaccounted for, triggering search-and-rescue operations.
Emergency teams remain on the ground carrying out rescue efforts and providing relief assistance to those affected.
