Police personnel reportedly entered the flat at around 7:48 am after Rathee’s mother opened the door. Around 50 police personnel had allegedly gathered outside the residence late on Friday night.
The Dhruv Rathee news report did not provide an official explanation for the reported detention or confirm whether formal charges had been filed.

Rathee questions security restrictions
Before the reported detention, Rathee shared a video on Instagram on October 9. The video was filmed at Kartavya Path in Delhi.
In the video, he questioned the extensive security measures and transport restrictions introduced ahead of the planned demonstration.
According to the report, these measures included proposed metro station closures, train cancellations and a temporary suspension of mobile internet services in parts of central Delhi.
The Dhruv Rathee news drew further attention because of the timing of the reported detention, shortly before the demonstration was due to take place.
Police operation extends beyond one location
Rathee’s reported detention came amid a wider police operation linked to the gathering. Other groups had also raised concerns about alleged detentions of supporters ahead of the demonstration.
Authorities had increased security and introduced movement restrictions to manage the expected crowd and maintain order.
However, the full scope of the operation and the reasons behind individual detentions were not clearly established in the available report.
