ICC ODI rankings: Babar Azam slips two places as Pakistan loses top-five spot
The latest International Cricket Council (ICC) rankings show a mixed result for Pakistan, as Babar has fallen two places while some of the country’s bowlers remain near the top.
Babar falls as Gill keeps the lead
India’s Shubman Gill continues to lead the ODI batting rankings, followed by New Zealand’s Daryl Mitchell in second place and India’s Virat Kohli in third.
India’s Rohit Sharma holds fourth place, while Afghanistan’s Ibrahim Zadran is fifth. Babar is now ninth, behind England’s Harry Brook in eighth place and ahead of India’s KL Rahul in tenth.
Pakistan bowlers show mixed results
Afghanistan’s Rashid Khan remains at the top of the ODI bowling rankings, while South Africa’s Keshav Maharaj has moved up one place to second.
Pakistan spinner Abrar Ahmed has slipped to third, while fast bowler Shaheen Shah Afridi has climbed two places to sixth. These results give Pakistan a strong presence in the bowling list despite the decline in its batting rankings.
Haris Rauf drops nine places
Pakistan fast bowler Haris Rauf has suffered a major drop, falling nine places to 29th in the latest ODI bowling rankings. His decline contrasts with Shaheen’s rise and Abrar’s position among the leading bowlers.
The rankings update comes during the ongoing ODI tri-series involving Pakistan, England and Sri Lanka. Players’ performances in international matches can affect their positions as the ICC updates its rankings.
Latest ICC ODI rankings
The ICC Men’s ODI batting rankings dated October 27, 2026, place Gill first, Mitchell second and Kohli third. Babar is ninth, while the top five also include Rohit Sharma and Ibrahim Zadran.
In the bowling rankings reported in the October 28 update, Rashid Khan leads the list, followed by Maharaj and Abrar. Shaheen is sixth, while Rauf stands at 29th after losing nine places.
Babar’s fall to ninth means Pakistan currently has no batter in the ODI top five. However, Abrar’s third place and Shaheen’s rise to sixth show that Pakistan still has bowlers among the leading players.
The next performances of Pakistan’s players could influence their positions in future updates. For now, the rankings present a challenge for the batting side and some encouraging news for the bowling attack.
