Trump claims tariffs stopped India Pakistan war in May 2025, saying his intervention reduced tensions and prevented a nuclear conflict.
US President Donald Trump has once again claimed that he played a key role in stopping a major conflict between India and Pakistan. In an interview with Fox News, Trump said he used tariffs as a strategic tool to pressure both countries into avoiding war.
Trump stated that he had helped stop eight wars globally, and at least six of them were prevented through tariff threats. He said he warned countries that if they did not stop fighting, the United States would impose trade tariffs. According to him, this strategy helped reduce tensions and avoid bloodshed.
Speaking about the India-Pakistan situation, Trump described the tensions as extremely serious and said the situation could have escalated into a nuclear war. He claimed that both sides were in direct confrontation and around 10 aircraft had been shot down, making the situation highly dangerous.
