Republican Senator Marco Rubio presented the bill, proposing steps to help India counter the growing influence of China and the increasing threats from Pakistan.
The bill also proposed to stop Pakistan’s aid for anti-India actions and emphasised that India should be treated like Japan, Israel, Korea and NATO partners in technology transfer.
The bill also proposed to enhance "strategic, diplomatic, economic and military ties" with New Delhi.
If passed, the bill could have significant implications for Pakistan, especially at a time when Islamabad and Washington are working to strengthen their bilateral ties.
It should be noted here that Republican Senator Marco Rubio from Florida has been a member of the Senate since 2011.
He ran as a presidential candidate in the 2015 elections and won several states during the primaries, but dropped out of the race in 2016.
