PTCL warns of slow internet in Pakistan on THESE dates
According to PTCL, the maintenance activity will begin on May 11 and may continue until May 18 as part of repair work being carried out by the International Cable Consortium.
In a statement shared on X, PTCL said, “A maintenance activity is planned on one of our submarine cables to repair a fault by the International Cable Consortium.” The company added that internet users may experience slower internet speeds and temporary service degradation, especially during evening hours when online traffic is usually higher.
Internet interruptions caused by undersea cable faults have remained a recurring issue for users across Pakistan in recent years, often affecting browsing speeds, streaming, and online communication.

The announcement comes at a time when Pakistan’s telecom sector is moving towards advanced connectivity and the gradual expansion of 5G services in selected areas.
Earlier this year, the government also completed a major spectrum auction, selling 480 megahertz of frequency bands and generating significant revenue. Officials said these developments are part of efforts to strengthen the country’s next-generation communication infrastructure and improve long-term digital connectivity.
Despite temporary disruptions, telecom authorities said such maintenance work is necessary to meet growing internet demand and ensure more stable services in the future. Users have been advised to expect minor slowdowns during peak hours and plan important online activities accordingly.
