PTA Chairman announces date for spectrum auction amid challenges

ISLAMABAD: (Web Desk) Pakistan Telecommunication Authority (PTA) Chairman Major General (retd) Hafeez-ur-Rehman announced the date for the 5G spectrum auction.

Chairman Hafeez-ur- Rehman said that the regulator would hold the country’s long-awaited 5G spectrum auction between April and May this year.

During a ceremony in Islamabad, PTA Chairman acknowledged the existing barriers in the way of launching 5G service in the country. Malaysian telecom officials also attended the ceremony.

As Malaysia has already transitioned to 5.5G service, the officials from Malaysia shared their experience in enhancing internet connectivity speed.

On the occasion, PTA Chairman Hafeez-ur-Rehman stated that Pakistan would take benefit from Malaysia’s expertise in launching 5G services.
