ISLAMABAD: (Web Desk) Minister of State for Information Technology (IT), Shaza Fatima Khawaja reaffirmed the government’s commitment to improve internet speed in Pakistan.

During a seminar in Islamabad, she acknowledged the contemporary challenges in internet connectivity and the strain on networks, which occasionally lead to disruptions.

State Minister for IT highlighted the ongoing initiatives, stating that Pakistan has already received one of the world’s largest submarine cables.

She said that the government can introduce more submarine cables if it sees the necessity to further improve the connectivity.

Regarding improving internet speed and enhancing digital infrastructure, Khawaja announced that Pakistan will conduct a spectrum auction in April. She stressed the importance of 5G technology, saying that global GDP is likely to increase by $1.3 trillion on account of 5G by 2030.

Recently, Pakistan relies on a 274 MHz spectrum for operations. IT Minister reaffirmed the government’s dedication to improving connectivity and ensuring the country keeps pace with technological advancements.
