Sajid Nawaz, who was arrested by Lahore’s Green Town police, had his case dismissed by the Model Town Kacheri. His arrest sparked a social media outcry, with many users demanding his release.

After his release, Sajid also appeared in an interview where he apologized for his abusive remarks towards the government. He thanked the Punjab government for handling his case carefully and ensuring justice was served.

Sajid explained that he made those comments in a moment of emotional distress after slipping on the flooded roads. “That was a mistake on my part, and I sincerely apologize for it,” he said.

Reports also surfaced claiming that Nawaz had been fired from his job at a private industry following the incident. Journalists, including Asad Toor, alleged that his termination came soon after his arrest.

During his recent interview, when a reporter asked about his termination he denied to answer that question.

Notably, Nawaz’s son, Umar, had filed a petition in the Lahore Sessions Court demanding his father s recovery. The petition stated that Sajid was held by police for two days without any charges or legal proceedings.

Responding to the plea, Additional Sessions Judge Ghulam Farid summoned a reply from the police and ordered that if Nawaz was in custody, he must be presented safely in court. The next hearing was scheduled for today (Tuesday).

The controversy began after a video of Sajid riding a motorcycle through floodwaters in Lahore went viral. In the video, he harshly criticised Chief Minister Maryam Nawaz and Army Chief General Asim Munir for the government s lack of preparedness. After his arrest, a second video emerged showing Sajid apologising and calling his remarks a mistake.
