iPhone 18 series PTA tax touches sky in Pakistan
Updated PTA tax rates for iPhone 18 series
Pakistani buyers planning to import Apple's latest handsets now have a clearer picture of the registration cost. Updated PTA tax rates for the iPhone 18 Duo, iPhone 18 Pro Max and iPhone 18 Pro have been reported, and the amount depends on whether the device is registered on a passport or a CNIC.
Passport and CNIC rates
The iPhone 18 Duo, Apple's first foldable handset, carries the highest tax at Rs271,831 on a passport and Rs299,014 on a CNIC. The iPhone 18 Pro Max is taxed at Rs223,181 on a passport and Rs245,499 on a CNIC. The iPhone 18 Pro costs Rs216,231 on a passport and Rs237,854 on a CNIC.
CNIC registration is the costlier route for all three models, by about Rs21,600 on the Pro, Rs22,300 on the Pro Max and Rs27,200 on the Duo.
What buyers should know
Apple has no official store in Pakistan, so the phones arrive through importers and grey-market sellers. Local prices therefore vary with stock, exchange rates and seller margins. Tax figures for the new series have also differed between reports, and the Federal Board of Revenue (FBR) sets the duties, not the PTA. The figures above should be treated as reported market rates rather than a final official quotation.
How to check the exact amount
Buyers should check the device's IMEI through the DIRBS system before paying anything. The IMEI can be found by dialing *#06# or in the iPhone's settings. Unregistered phones risk losing cellular service after the grace period ends.
