LAHORE (Web Desk): Samsung Electronics plans to sharply expand its AI-powered mobile lineup, aiming to double Galaxy AI-enabled devices to 800 million units by next year.

Samsung had already rolled out Galaxy AI features to around 400 million devices, including smartphones and tablets. Most of these AI tools are powered by Google’s Gemini technology.

Co-CEO T M Roh said Samsung wants to apply AI across all products and services as quickly as possible. “We will apply AI to all products, all functions, and all services as quickly as possible,” he told Reuters.

Samsung’s move is expected to strongly benefit Google, whose Gemini model is competing with ‘OpenAI’ and other AI developers for global users. As the largest supporter of Android, Samsung plays a key role in pushing Google’s AI to consumers.

The company is also trying to regain its smartphone leadership from Apple and stay ahead of growing competition from Chinese brands. This strategy covers not only mobile phones but also TVs and home appliances.

Samsung plans to offer integrated AI services across its consumer products. This could help it widen the gap with Apple in AI features, even though Apple was expected to lead global smartphone sales last year.

Meanwhile, the AI race is intensifying. Google launched the latest version of Gemini in November, claiming strong performance gains. OpenAI responded by speeding up development and releasing its ‘GPT-5.2 model.’

Roh said interest in Galaxy AI has grown rapidly. Samsung surveys show awareness of the Galaxy AI brand jumped to 80% from about 30% in just one year.

He believes AI adoption will speed up soon. Roh said that even if people doubt AI now, these technologies will become common within the next year.
