The collection of Rs12 billion by telecom operators has been a big step toward 5G services rollout in the country as Pakistan prepares to auction 5G spectrum.
The Pakistan Telecommunication Authority indicated that telecom firms paid pre-bid deposits of Rs4 billion each, which met the required conditions to take part in the auction.
In Pakistan, the next 5G auction is set to be conducted on March 10, 2026, and will decide on the operators who will get spectrum licenses and then roll out the next-generation mobile services.
With the launch of the 5G technology, the internet is set to have increased speeds, reduced latency, and connectivity to millions of people in the country.
According to industry experts, the effective retrieval of these deposits is an indicator of high interest of telecom companies in its introduction of 5G services in Pakistan, which will speed up the digital development and introduce new innovative technologies into the country, including smart cities, Internet of Things (IoT), and increased mobile broadband.
