According to the report, this feature will be effective from August 13, 2025, and its aim is to provide users with a safe and age-appropriate experience. This machine learning technology will initially be tested on limited users in the United States.

This technology will estimate users  ages based on factors such as their search history, categories of videos watched, and account age. If the system considers a user to be underage, age-related restrictions will automatically be imposed on them.

If the AI cannot determine the correct age, the user can prove their age by using a government ID card or credit card to prove that they are over 18 years old.

The company says that based on the results of this trial, this feature will be gradually introduced in other countries.

According to YouTube, this new technology will provide users with better protection and experience based on their age, regardless of the date of birth listed on their account.

However, this feature may lead to some restrictions for younger users that they may not like.
