Pakistan announce 20-player squad for 2026 Men's Hockey World Cup
Goalkeepers and full squad announced
PHF has named Waqar and Ali Raza as the two goalkeepers for the tournament.
The rest of the squad includes Muhammad Abdullah, Muhammad Sufyan Khan, Moeen Shakeel, Abdul Waheed Ashraf Rana, Abdul Hanan Shahid, Zakariya Hayat, Arshad Liaqat, Adeel Latif, Ahmad Nadeem, Ghazanfar Ali, Imad Shakeel Butt, Muhammad Hammaduddin Anjum, Rehman Abdul, Afraz, Umar Mustafa, Abu Bakar Mahmood, Abdul Matan, and Muhammad Ammad.
Officials said the selection was made after carefully reviewing the players’ recent performances, fitness levels, and overall form. The federation believes the squad has the depth and talent needed to compete against some of the world’s strongest hockey teams.
Coaching staff finalised for tournament
The PHF has also confirmed the coaching staff for the World Cup campaign. Bob Johan Veldhof will serve as the head coach of the national team during the tournament.
Chris Bowen and Adnan Zakir have been appointed as assistant coaches, while Muhammad Owais Qarni will serve as the team manager. Officials said the coaching staff will focus on improving team coordination, match preparation, and tactical planning ahead of the competition.
World Cup to be held in the Netherlands and Belgium
The 2026 FIH Men’s Hockey World Cup will be held in the Netherlands and Belgium from August 15 to August 30. The tournament will feature some of the world’s leading hockey nations competing for the prestigious title.
