Noman Ali becomes oldest cricketer to reach 100 Test wickets
The experienced spinner reached the milestone after dismissing Bangladesh all-rounder Mehidy Hasan Miraz, becoming one of Pakistan’s elite Test bowlers.
Noman also claimed the important wickets of Bangladesh captain Najmul Hossain Shanto and Taijul Islam during the match, helping Pakistan remain competitive in the Test. With this achievement, Noman became the ninth spinner and the 20th Pakistani bowler overall to complete 100 wickets in Test cricket.
At the age of 39 years and 217 days, he also became the oldest player in Test history to reach the 100-wicket mark. He broke the long-standing record of former England spinner Bobby Peel, who achieved the milestone in 1896 at the age of 39 years and 180 days.

Noman Ali reached the landmark in his 22nd Test match, making him the joint fourth-fastest Pakistani bowler to complete 100 Test wickets.
Former Pakistan leg-spinner Yasir Shah remains the fastest Pakistani bowler to achieve the milestone, reaching 100 wickets in just 17 matches. England legend George Lohmann still holds the world record for the fastest bowler to reach 100 Test wickets, achieving the feat in only 16 matches.
Noman’s remarkable achievement has received praise from cricket fans and experts, especially because he reached the milestone at an age when many players retire from international cricket. His performance has once again highlighted Pakistan’s strong tradition of producing quality spin bowlers in Test cricket.
