(Web Desk): The NCCIA has summoned national cricketers Imam-ul-Haq and Mohammad Rizwan for an investigation.

The agency has issued notices to both players regarding information linked to their mobile phones.

Sources said the Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) had taken the players’ mobile phones and handed them over to the relevant authorities. The reason why the phones were kept has not yet been explained by the PCB.

Notices issued to players

According to sources, the National Cybercrime Investigation Agency (NCCIA) has issued notices to Imam-ul-Haq and Mohammad Rizwan. Another national cricketer has also reportedly received a notice from the agency.

The NCCIA will examine information obtained from the players’ mobile phones. The investigation is linked to an alleged leak of dressing room information during the England series.

Mobile phones to be examined

Sources said the players may be asked to unlock their mobile phones during the investigation. Investigators will examine information from the devices as part of the inquiry.

The exact reason behind the PCB’s decision to keep the players’ phones remains unclear. The board has so far not publicly explained why the devices were handed over to the authorities.

Players called to NCCIA Lahore

Sources said Imam-ul-Haq and Mohammad Rizwan are expected to appear before the NCCIA in Lahore. The notices were issued on Monday, directing the two players to appear before the agency.

The investigation will focus on the alleged dressing room leaks during the England series. Further details are expected to emerge as the NCCIA questions the players and examines the relevant information.

The investigation puts the focus on how information from a cricket team’s dressing room may have reached outside sources. The examination of mobile phones could help investigators establish whether the devices contain relevant information.

The PCB’s decision to hand over the phones has also raised questions because the board has not explained the reason. The case may become clearer after the players appear before the NCCIA.
