England cricket team arrive in Pakistan for ODI tri-series
England’s men’s cricket team arrived at Islamabad International Airport on Friday to take part in the upcoming one-day international (ODI) tri-series alongside Pakistan and Sri Lanka.
Officials from the Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) welcomed the visiting players at the airport. The team later travelled to its hotel as preparations began for the tournament, which will run from October 18 to 31.
England are scheduled to hold a practice session at Rawalpindi Cricket Stadium on Saturday before the series begins. The tournament will allow all three teams to compete in the 50-over format and prepare for upcoming international fixtures.
Pakistan and Sri Lanka to open the tournament
The ODI tri-series will begin on October 18, when Pakistan face Sri Lanka at Rawalpindi Cricket Stadium.
The opening match will mark the start of a seven-match competition involving the three teams. Pakistan will then face England at the same venue on October 20. Sri Lanka and England are scheduled to meet in Rawalpindi on October 22.
These opening fixtures will give the teams an early opportunity to assess the playing conditions and build momentum before the tournament moves to Lahore. With each side competing for a place in the final, consistent performances during the league stage will be important in determining which two teams advance to the title clash.
Tri-series moves to Lahore later this month
After the first three matches in Rawalpindi, the tournament will move to Lahore’s Gaddafi Stadium.
Pakistan will face England on October 25, followed by a match against Sri Lanka on October 27. Sri Lanka and England will meet again on October 29 in the final league match.
The top two teams will then compete in the final on October 31 at Gaddafi Stadium. The closing matches in Lahore will determine which team lifts the trophy. Both venues will host international cricket as the three sides compete for a place in the final.
England prepare for a competitive series
England’s arrival completes the line-up for the tri-series, which brings together three international teams for a series of ODI matches in Pakistan.

The visiting side will have time to train and adjust to local conditions before its first match. Pakistan will play on home soil, while Sri Lanka will also aim to make a strong start to the competition.
The seven-match format means teams will need consistent performances throughout the league stage to reach the final.
The tournament will also give cricket fans in Rawalpindi and Lahore the opportunity to watch international matches at home.
