Pakistan clinches 14-run victory over West Indies in T20I opener

FLORIDA (Web Desk): Pakistan defeated West Indies by 14 runs in the first match of the 3-match T20 series.

In the match played in Lauderhill, Florida, USA, West Indian captain Shai Hope won the toss and invited Pakistan to bat.

Pakistan scored 178 runs for the loss of 6 wickets in 20 overs. Saim Ayub and Fakhar Zaman were the standouts with 57 and 28 runs, respectively.

Apart from this, Hassan Nawaz scored 24 runs while Faheem Ashraf scored quick 16 and Sahibzada Farhan scored 14 runs. Captain Salman Ali Agha remained unbeaten with 11 and Muhammad Haris with 6 runs.

For the West Indies, Shemar Joseph took 3 wickets, while Holder, Akeal Hosein and Shepherd took one wicket each.

Chasing a target of 179 runs, the West Indies team could only score 164 runs for the loss of 7 wickets.

For Pakistan, Muhammad Nawaz took 3 wickets, Saim Ayub took 2 wickets, and Shaheen Afridi and Safyan Muqeem took one wicket each.

The Pakistan team for the first T20I against the West Indies included Sahibzada Farhan, Saim Ayub, Fakhar Zaman, Muhammad Haris (wicketkeeper), and Salman Ali Agha (captain).

Apart from this, Hassan Nawaz, Muhammad Nawaz, Faheem Ashraf, Shaheen Afridi, Haris Rauf and Sufyan Muqeem were also part of the playing XI.

Pakistan now leads 3-match series by 1-0. Second T20I will be played on August 3 at the same venue.
