DARVIN (Web Desk): Pakistan Shaheens started the Top End T20 Series with a strong 79-run win over Bangladesh ‘A’ in Darwin.

Pakistan Shaheens defeated Bangladesh  A  by 79 runs in an exciting opening game at Darwin s TIO Stadium, showcasing their bowling prowess and batting power.

The Shaheens, who chose to bat first, amassed a commanding 227 for 4 in their 20 overs.

Yasir Khan provided support with a rapid 62 from 40 deliveries, while opener Khawaja Mohammad Nafay blazed his way to 61 runs off just 31 balls.

Their quick 118-run partnership laid the groundwork for a significant score.

With five sixes in his undefeated 56 off 27 balls, Abdul Samad helped push the total over 200.

With a rapid 25-run contribution from captain Muhammad Irfan Khan, the team was able to establish a challenging target.

Bangladesh "A," chasing 228 runs, got off to a strong start with a 92-run partnership but stalled after left-arm spinner Maaz Sadaqat removed opener Jishan Alam.

Pakistan s spin combination of Saad Masood (3 for 30) and Faisal Akram (3 wickets for 19 runs) then assumed complete control.

Mohammad Wasim Jr., a fast bowler, also showed promise, taking two wickets for twenty-four runs. In just 16.5 overs, Bangladesh was bowled out for 148.

This win not only highlights Pakistan Shaheens’ depth in batting and spin bowling but also sets a strong tone for the series ahead.

Their ability to build partnerships and execute effective bowling spells under pressure could prove decisive in upcoming matches.

At the same location, the Shaheens will next play the Scorchers on August 16.
