The visitors resumed their innings on Day 3 on the overnight score of 10 with openers Shadnam Islam and Zakir Hasan at the crease. The hosts required their bowlers to step up after being bundled out for 274 in the first innings. Shahzad was up to the task as he drew first blood for his team in the fourth over of the day as Zakir Hasan flicked him straight to Abrar Ahmed at square leg.
Khurram further shattered Shadnam Islam’s leg stump in the very next over, who missed the line of the ball. Resultanlty, both Bangladesh openers were back in the pavilion with 19 runs on the board. Three balls later, Shahzad inflicted more damage as he dismantled captain Najmul Hossain Shanto’s stumps with another marvellous in-swinger.
With Incredible spell from Khurram Shahzad, Mir Hamza also joined the party as he made Mominul Haque chip one straight to Mohammad Ali at mid-on to leave Bangladesh in all sorts of trouble at 20/4 after 8.1 overs. Hamza dismissed Mushfiqur Rahim who was the first Test’s player of the match winner.
Shahzad finished his first spell with figures of 4/15 in seven overs while Hamza picked up 2/24 in his seven overs.
For Bangladesh, Mehidy Hasan Miraz (33*) and Litton Das (13*) took them to lunch with no further casualties. Courtesy of their unbeaten 49-run stand, Bangladesh went into Lunch on 75/6 after 26 overs.
