(Web Desk): The Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) is set to appoint seasoned Australian fielding expert Shane McDermott as an all-format fielding coach.

As per the report by Telecom Asia Sport, the official announcement is expected in the coming days.

The decision follows the departure of Mohammad Masroor, who served as the head coach on a series-by-series basis since October 2024.

Masroor confirmed his exit via social media, thanking and showing gratitude towards players, staff, and fans for their support during his time with the Pakistan team.

“Thank you to the players who trusted, the staff who supported, and the fans who believed. Behind every catch taken, every game won was a group of men who believed,” he shared.

McDermott brings a wealth of coaching experience. He has coached teams such as Bangladesh, Sri Lanka, Cricket Australia, the Western Australia Cricket Association, and Cricket Tasmania in the past.

In 2022 to 2023, he was the Assistant Fielding Coach for Bangladesh. Prior to that, he was Sri Lanka’s fielding coach for three years and has also coached the Sri Lanka A team during his tenure.

Earlier in his career, McDermott held various roles at Cricket Australia, including interim Assistant Fielding Coach and National A Team Analyst and Fielding Coach.

In the forthcoming months, Pakistan is set to play important matches. Pakistan will take on Bangladesh first in a three-match series followed by a T20I series against the West Indies in the Caribbean.

After that, the Green Shirts will participate in the Asia Cup 2025, set to be held in the UAE (United Arab Emirates) in September
