If had it been possible for me, I would have appointed Saim Ayub as the Pakistan T20I captain, Afridi remarked.
He expressed these views during a programme on a private news channel.
“There is a need of such a captain who is having a selfless approach to the game,” Afridi said.
Talking about poor performance of the players in eight-nation tournament under Champions Trophy 2025, Shahid Afridi expressed reservation over the decisions of selection committee. He also raised objections over the inclusion of Shadab Khan into the Pakistani team ahead of the New Zealand tour.
“Now there is a need for one spinner, so the selection committee has picked up four spinners,” he added.
On January 3, Ayub was injured during the second Test against South Africa. He suffered an ankle injury while chasing a ball on the boundary on the first day of the match.
