The stadium is being constructed in Chak 101/15-L near Mian Channu, the hometown of javelin gold medalist Arshad Nadeem. The project was approved after his historic Olympic victory, when the Punjab government promised a dedicated sports facility in his village.
Chief Minister Maryam Nawaz Sharif announced the project soon after Nadeem’s record-breaking performance. A special grant of Rs 50 million was released through the Sports Department to begin construction.

District Sports Officer Muhammad Hafeez said the stadium covers seven acres and is being built at a total cost of Rs 52.973 million. He added that the boundary wall, jogging track, and open-air gym have already been completed. A turbine has also been installed to ensure water supply for the ground.
Once the electricity connection is provided, work on grass laying and plantation will begin. Officials said the stadium is expected to be fully completed by June 2027.
Recently, Arshad Nadeem met Deputy Commissioner Khanewal Maliha Rasheed and invited her to visit the construction site. She accepted the invitation and said the district administration is following the chief minister’s vision to expand sports facilities and revive playgrounds.
