(Web Desk): Rain and thunderstorms across Lahore, Islamabad and several regions brought cooler temperatures, while authorities remain on alert for drainage and more rainfall.

Moderate to heavy rainfall across Lahore and several parts of Punjab, Khyber Pakhtunkhwa (KP), and Azad Jammu and Kashmir (AJK) has significantly cooled temperatures, bringing pleasant weather after days of heat.

According to reports, heavy rain and thunderstorms were recorded in several cities including Lahore, Mianwali, Sargodha, Attock, and Peshawar, while scattered showers were also reported in other nearby areas.

In Attock and surrounding areas, residents experienced hailstorms along with heavy rain, while Peshawar and nearby regions received showers that helped reduce the intense heat.

Thunderstorms Reported in Several Punjab Cities

Thunderstorms and rainfall were also reported in Kundian, Phalia, and Chashma, while Pind Dadan Khan and surrounding areas experienced heavy rainfall.

Meanwhile, intermittent rain continued in Bhalwal and nearby localities, and Muridke and surrounding areas witnessed thunderstorms, adding to the widespread weather activity across Punjab.

Cold Weather Returns to Azad Kashmir

In Azad Jammu and Kashmir, rain brought cooler temperatures across most districts, while light snowfall was reported in mountainous areas, signaling a temporary return of cold weather conditions.

Residents in the region welcomed the rainfall as it provided relief from rising temperatures.

Thunderstorms Cool Islamabad and Rawalpindi

The twin cities of Islamabad and Rawalpindi also experienced thunderstorms and steady rainfall, which significantly lowered temperatures and made the weather more comfortable for residents.

Rainfall continued intermittently across various areas of the twin cities, with clouds and strong winds accompanying the storm system.

According to the Pakistan Meteorological Department (PMD), more rainfall is expected in the coming days, and residents are advised to stay updated with weather forecasts.

WASA Lahore on High Alert After Rain

Following the rainfall in Lahore, the Water and Sanitation Agency (WASA) placed its teams on high alert to ensure the smooth drainage of rainwater.

On the directions of the Deputy Commissioner (DC) Lahore, all disposal stations have been fully activated, and machinery is operating to prevent water accumulation.

Authorities have also instructed teams to keep main roads, underpasses, and low-lying areas clear for traffic.

Officials emphasized that drainage stations must operate at full capacity and field teams should remain active to ensure rapid removal of rainwater.

Public Safety Advisory for Citizens

Authorities have urged citizens to avoid standing near electricity poles and wires during rainfall to prevent accidents.

Officials added that efforts are being made to ensure minimum inconvenience to residents during the rain spell, while emergency teams remain deployed across the city.
