Rain likely in Lahore as weather pattern shifts ahead of monsoon season
Residents of Lahore may finally get some relief from the summer heat as the Pakistan Meteorological Department (PMD) has forecast rain in the city during the next 24 hours amid changing weather conditions across the country.
According to PMD Deputy Director Atif Irshad, rainfall has already been recorded in several cities, and weather systems moving across the region are increasing the likelihood of showers in Lahore. The city is expected to remain under partly cloudy skies for the next two to three days, creating favorable conditions for rainfall and a slight drop in temperatures.
The Lahore weather forecast indicates that daytime temperatures could still reach as high as 39 degrees Celsius. However, meteorological officials have reassured residents that there is currently no threat of a heatwave in the provincial capital. Authorities said the prevailing weather remains within normal seasonal limits despite the recent rise in temperatures.
Experts believe that intermittent cloud cover and possible rainfall could provide temporary relief from the hot and humid conditions experienced in recent weeks. Citizens have been advised to stay hydrated and monitor official weather updates, particularly if outdoor activities are planned.
The latest PMD weather update also points to broader changes in weather patterns across Pakistan as the country moves closer to the annual monsoon season. According to officials, the Pakistan monsoon season is expected to begin during the first week of July, bringing more widespread rainfall to several regions.
Weather analysts say stronger monsoon activity could help lower temperatures, improve water availability, and support agricultural activities. However, authorities are also preparing for the possibility of urban flooding in low-lying areas if heavy rainfall develops later in the season.
