Rain, hail alert as heat tightens grip across Pakistan
Most parts of Pakistan are expected to remain hot and dry on Monday, while southern districts are likely to experience intense heat, according to the Pakistan Meteorological Department.
The weather department said upper areas of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, Gilgit-Baltistan, Azad Kashmir, northeastern and eastern Punjab, and the Pothohar Plateau may receive rain accompanied by strong winds and thunderstorms. Isolated hailstorms are also expected in some areas.
In Islamabad and nearby areas, partly cloudy skies are forecast. Officials said strong winds, thunderstorm activity and scattered rain are likely later in the day, with a possibility of hail at a few locations.
Across Punjab, most districts are expected to remain hot and dry. However, southern and central parts of the province may experience dust storms and gusty winds. Light to moderate rain with thunder is possible in several cities, including Murree, Galiyat, Rawalpindi and Lahore.
In upper Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, partly cloudy conditions are expected. Rain and thunderstorms may affect Chitral, Swat, Abbottabad and Peshawar.
Most areas of Sindh and southern Balochistan are likely to remain very hot and dry. However, light rain may occur in Zhob and Loralai.
Weather officials have advised residents in vulnerable areas to remain cautious, as sudden strong winds and hail may disrupt travel, damage crops and affect electricity supply.
