(Web Desk): A harsh cold wave continues across Pakistan as the Meteorological Department warns of more rain and snowfall, with another western weather system expected soon.

Pakistan remains gripped by an intense cold wave, with the Pakistan Meteorological Department (PMD) forecasting additional rain and snowfall in the coming days, raising concerns over further temperature drops.

According to the PMD, rainfall in Islamabad, Rawalpindi, and several other regions has already pushed temperatures lower, while Murree and upper areas of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa have been blanketed in fresh snowfall, turning landscapes white.

Deputy Director Meteorology Irfan Virk said the current western weather system is gradually weakening but will continue to affect upper Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, including Dir, Swat, Kohistan, Battagram, as well as Gilgit-Baltistan, Kashmir, Islamabad, and Rawalpindi for a short while longer before exiting the country later tonight.

He added that a new western disturbance is expected to enter Pakistan after two days. The fresh system is likely to move into Balochistan by Sunday evening or night, bringing rainfall to plain areas and snowfall to mountainous regions.

In view of the evolving weather conditions, authorities have directed all relevant departments to remain on high alert and ensure that precautionary and emergency arrangements are fully in place to handle any adverse situations.

The PMD has advised citizens, especially those traveling to hilly and northern areas, to remain cautious as fluctuating weather conditions may lead to slippery roads, reduced visibility, and travel disruptions.
