PDMA warns of heavy rain across Punjab from July 1
The Provincial Disaster Management Authority (PDMA) Punjab has issued a weather alert, warning of rain, strong winds, and hailstorms in different parts of the province over the coming days. Authorities have urged people to remain cautious as the first major monsoon spell approaches.
According to the PDMA, rain is expected in most districts of Punjab from July 1 to July 6. Officials have warned that heavy rainfall could cause urban flooding in several major cities during this period.
The alert states that rain is likely in Lahore, Rawalpindi, Murree, Galliat, Attock, Chakwal, Jhelum, Mandi Bahauddin, Gujrat, Gujranwala, Hafizabad, Faisalabad, Khushab, Sargodha, Sheikhupura, and Narowal. From July 3 to July 6, additional districts are expected to receive rainfall, including Sahiwal, Jhang, Toba Tek Singh, Pakpattan, Nankana Sahib, Okara, Kasur, Bhakkar, Layyah, Mianwali, Bahawalpur, Dera Ghazi Khan, and Multan.

The PDMA has warned that heavy rainfall may lead to urban flooding in Rawalpindi, Gujranwala, Sialkot, Lahore, and Faisalabad. Residents living in low-lying areas have been advised to remain alert and follow safety instructions issued by local authorities.
Meanwhile, the Pakistan Meteorological Department (PMD) has forecast the arrival of the monsoon season during the first week of July. The department has warned that several parts of the country may experience heavy rain, strong winds, lightning, flash floods, and landslides.
Authorities have advised citizens to stay updated through official weather alerts, avoid unnecessary travel during heavy rainfall, and take precautionary measures to protect themselves and their property.
