PDMA issues alert as dust storms and rain sweep across Punjab
Weather authorities have forecast dust storms and rainfall in Lahore and many other parts of Punjab as a weak weather system continues to affect the province, bringing relief from the recent spell of intense heat.
According to the Meteorological Department, Lahore recorded a minimum temperature of 26 degrees Celsius, while the maximum temperature is expected to reach around 34 degrees Celsius. Dust-laden winds and rain are likely in the city and surrounding areas during the day.
The Provincial Disaster Management Authority (PDMA) has issued a province-wide alert for strong winds, rainfall, and possible hailstorms. According to the alert, rain is expected in Rawalpindi, Murree, Galliyat, Attock, Jhelum, Chakwal, Bhakkar, Layyah, Faisalabad, Jhang, Okara, Gujranwala, Hafizabad, and Wazirabad.
Rainfall is also forecast in Sargodha, Mianwali, Sheikhupura, Khushab, Dera Ghazi Khan, Bahawalpur, Bahawalnagar, Multan, Khanewal, Lodhran, Muzaffargarh, Rajanpur, Rahim Yar Khan, Kot Addu and Mandi Bahauddin. The PDMA has also warned of possible rainfall in Lahore, Sialkot, Narowal, Faisalabad, Jhang, and nearby areas.

The PDMA Director General said all commissioners and deputy commissioners across Punjab have been placed on alert under the directions of Chief Minister Maryam Nawaz. In Lahore, the Water and Sanitation Agency (WASA) has directed its operational staff to remain on standby in anticipation of rainfall.
Authorities have advised citizens to stay indoors during thunderstorms, avoid open areas during lightning activity, and take precautions against strong winds and dust storms. Farmers have been urged to make the necessary preparations for changing weather conditions, while tourists travelling to northern areas have been advised to remain cautious and follow safety guidelines.
