The Pakistan Meteorological Department has predicted the start of a new monsoon spell across the country from today, bringing thunderstorms and rain to several upper regions.

Heavy rainfall is expected in upper Punjab, Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, Kashmir and Gilgit-Baltistan. Authorities have also warned that intense showers could increase the risk of urban flooding in low-lying areas.

The latest forecast has raised concerns for residents in vulnerable areas, particularly where drainage systems may struggle to handle heavy rainfall.

Islamabad weather update

Islamabad is expected to remain hot and humid today, with the maximum temperature likely to reach 36°C. The capital is also expected to receive rainfall during the coming days as monsoon activity increases.

Residents have been advised to remain cautious during thunderstorms and follow weather updates, particularly in areas vulnerable to water accumulation.

Karachi may receive drizzle

Meanwhile, Karachi is experiencing partly cloudy conditions, with clouds and sunshine continuing throughout the day. The weather department has forecast a possibility of light drizzle in the city.

Karachi's current temperature has been recorded at 28°C, while the maximum temperature is expected to reach 34°C.

The weather is likely to remain warm and humid, with changing cloud conditions providing temporary relief from the heat.

Flooding risk remains

The new monsoon spell could bring significant rainfall to upper parts of the country, increasing the possibility of water accumulation in urban areas.

Citizens are advised to take precautions during heavy rain, avoid unnecessary travel through flooded roads and stay updated with official weather warnings.
