(Web Desk): NDMA has issued a weather alert until June 15, warning of flash floods, landslides and travel disruptions in northern Pakistan.

The National Disaster Management Authority (NDMA) has issued a weather alert for northern Pakistan from June 11 to June 15, warning of heavy rainfall, flash floods and possible landslides in several mountainous regions.

According to the NDMA, strong winds, thunderstorms and rain are expected in Gilgit-Baltistan, Khyber Pakhtunkhwa and Azad Jammu and Kashmir. The authority said the weather system could trigger localised flooding and cause water levels in streams, rivers and seasonal waterways to rise rapidly.

The agency warned that districts including Chitral, Shangla, Kohistan, Battagram and Mansehra face an increased risk of flash flooding. Similar concerns have been raised for Muzaffarabad, Neelum Valley, Bagh and Rawalakot in Azad Kashmir, where heavy downpours may create dangerous conditions.

In Gilgit-Baltistan, the districts of Ghizer, Diamer, Gilgit, Tangir, Darel and Gupis-Yasin are also expected to experience surging water flows in local streams and nullahs. NDMA further cautioned that landslides could occur between June 12 and June 15 in mountainous areas due to continuous rainfall.

The authority warned that parts of the Karakoram Highway and Jaglot-Skardu Road may face temporary closures, potentially disrupting travel and transportation. Emergency services have been advised to remain on high alert.

Citizens living near rivers, streams and low-lying areas have been urged to avoid unnecessary movement during periods of intense rainfall. Tourists have also been advised to postpone travel plans to hilly regions until weather conditions improve.

Meanwhile, the Pakistan Meteorological Department has forecast rain and thunderstorms in Islamabad, Punjab, Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, Sindh and Balochistan, raising the possibility of wider weather-related disruptions across the country.
