Lahore weather turns cool after rain and strong winds
Rain brought a noticeable change in Lahore’s weather on Thursday morning, with cool winds and cloudy skies making conditions more pleasant. Light to moderate showers affected several parts of the city. The rain was accompanied by strong, cold winds, bringing a taste of cooler weather as the season changes.
The showers also affected traffic and drainage in some areas. Rainwater accumulated on roads and streets, prompting WASA teams to respond and manage the situation. The rainfall came as the Pakistan Meteorological Department (PMD) forecast further rain and thunderstorms in parts of the country, including Punjab.
Which Lahore areas received rain?
Several neighbourhoods and major roads across Lahore received rain during the morning.
The affected areas included Defence, Ghazi Road, Ferozepur Road, Walton, Mall Road, Lakshmi Chowk, Gulshan Ravi, Jail Road, Gulberg and Garden Town.
Rain was also reported around Kalma Chowk, Sanda, Shimla Pahari, Davis Road, the Civil Secretariat and Chauburji.
The showers brought cooler conditions to different parts of the city, although rainfall levels may have varied from one area to another.
Water accumulation on roads and streets created additional difficulties for commuters. WASA personnel responded to the situation and worked to clear affected areas. Motorists and pedestrians may face difficulties where rainwater remains on roads, particularly at busy intersections and low-lying points.
Is the rain a sign of winter’s arrival?
The rain and cold winds have raised expectations of a gradual shift towards cooler weather in Lahore. Light to moderate rainfall can make the weather feel cooler, especially when accompanied by strong winds and cloudy skies.
However, a single spell of rain does not necessarily mean that winter has officially begun. Temperatures may still rise during the day, and weather conditions could change over the coming days.
The latest showers have nevertheless provided temporary relief from warmer conditions and made the atmosphere more pleasant in parts of the city. Residents should follow updated weather forecasts to find out whether the cooler conditions are likely to continue.
PMD forecasts more rain in parts of Pakistan
The Pakistan Meteorological Department has forecast rain, strong winds and thunderstorms in several parts of the country over the next 12 to 24 hours, according to the forecast information provided.

The areas expected to receive rain include Kashmir, Gilgit-Baltistan, Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, Islamabad and parts of upper and central Punjab. The Met Office has also warned of possible isolated hailstorms and heavy rainfall at a few places in the upper areas of Kashmir.
Weather conditions may vary across these regions, with some areas likely to receive scattered showers while others may experience only isolated rainfall. Residents in areas covered by the forecast should monitor official weather updates, particularly where thunderstorms or heavy showers are expected.
Mostly dry weather expected in Sindh and Balochistan
While rain is expected in several northern and central areas, most other parts of the country are likely to experience mainly dry weather. Sindh is expected to remain mostly dry, with hot conditions during the daytime.
Most districts of Balochistan are also likely to remain dry. However, partly cloudy conditions may develop in Khuzdar, Zhob, Barkhan and Musakhel.
These differences reflect the varied weather conditions expected across Pakistan. While some regions may experience rain and cooler temperatures, others could continue to face warm daytime conditions.
What residents should expect
The rain has made Lahore’s weather more pleasant, but water accumulation on roads remains a concern in affected areas. Commuters should take care when travelling through waterlogged streets and allow extra time for journeys where traffic is moving slowly.
Residents in areas expecting thunderstorms should also monitor official weather updates and take precautions during strong winds or heavy rainfall. WASA’s response will be important in clearing accumulated water and reducing disruption on major roads and streets.
