Lahore has received heavy monsoon rain, with rainfall crossing the 100-millimetre mark at several locations and causing water accumulation in different parts of the city.

According to Pakistan Meteorological Department data, the highest rainfall was recorded in the Jail Road area, where 104mm of rain was reported. The Lahore Airport area received 102mm.

Other areas also recorded significant rainfall. Hadyara Defence Road received 57.6mm, while Manawan recorded 57mm and Kahna received 75.6mm of rain.

Rainfall in Shadipura stood at 28mm, while Mughalpura received 32.8mm and Tajpura recorded 39.8mm. Nishtar Town received 27.6mm, while Johar Town recorded 10mm.

Chowk Na Khuda received 10.4mm, Gulberg 10.8mm, Lakshmi Chowk 3mm and Ihtimam 9mm. Rainfall in Farukh Abad was recorded at 0.8mm, while Gulshan Ravi received 1.6mm.

Iqbal Town recorded 3.6mm and Samanabad received 4mm. Meanwhile, rain in Sigian was recorded at 3.6mm.

According to the report, rain began in Lahore at around 8:40am. The city has received an average of 24.1mm of rainfall so far, although several localities have experienced much heavier showers.

The intense monsoon spell has also caused water to accumulate on roads and in low-lying areas. Relevant civic agencies are working to drain the accumulated rainwater and keep major roads clear for traffic.

Authorities have urged citizens to remain cautious while travelling, particularly in areas where heavy rainfall and waterlogging have been reported.
