The Pakistan Meteorological Department (PMD) has shared a positive Basant weather forecast for Lahore, predicting ideal conditions for the spring festival scheduled from February 6 to February 8, 2026 across Punjab.
Chief Meteorologist Dr. Zaheer Babar said the weather during all three days of Basant will remain pleasant and favorable, allowing citizens to fully enjoy the traditional kite-flying celebrations without weather disruptions.
No Rain, Mild Winds, Cool Nights
Speaking to a private TV channel, Dr. Zaheer Babar confirmed there is no chance of rainfall during Basant. He added that partly cloudy skies, gentle breezes, and cool nighttime temperatures will prevail, while daytime temperatures may rise slightly—creating an ideal spring atmosphere.
According to PMD officials, the combination of light winds and stable conditions will enhance comfort levels, making Lahore’s Basant celebrations more enjoyable for families and visitors alike.

Punjab Gears Up for Basant Festival 2026
The Basant festival in Punjab, especially in Lahore, attracts large crowds each year. Authorities say the favorable weather forecast is expected to boost participation in cultural activities and outdoor events across the city.
Uninterrupted Power Supply During Basant
Meanwhile, the National Grid Company of Pakistan (NGC) has issued special directives to ensure uninterrupted electricity supply in Lahore during the Basant festival from February 6 to 8, 2026.
NGC spokesperson said that, under instructions from Deputy Managing Director (AD&M) Engineer Rashid A. Bhutto, emergency response teams will remain on high alert throughout the festival.

Grid Stations, Transmission Lines on High Alert
NGC confirmed that:
- Technical staff, vehicles, and safety equipment will be available round-the-clock
- Transmission lines and grid stations in Lahore will be closely monitored
- Any technical fault will be addressed immediately to avoid power outages
Managing Director Engineer Altaf Hussain Malik urged citizens to strictly follow SOPs during Basant, avoid unsafe kite-flying practices, and refrain from activities that could damage power infrastructure or endanger lives.
He assured the public that NGC will ensure smooth electricity transmission in Lahore and surrounding areas throughout the festival.
