Lahore has emerged as the world’s fourth most polluted city, with its air quality index (AQI) reaching 163, according to the latest readings.

Several areas of the city recorded even higher pollution levels. Barki Road recorded an AQI of 182, followed by Gulberg II at 176 and Paragon City at 169.

Bedian Road recorded an AQI of 166, while DHA Phase V stood at 163. Iqbal Town also reported a high reading of 160, highlighting significant differences in air quality across the city.

Weather conditions in Lahore

According to the Meteorological Department, Lahore’s current temperature was recorded at 27 degrees Celsius. The temperature is expected to reach a maximum of 32 degrees Celsius, while the minimum may remain around 22 degrees.

Humidity in the city was recorded at 77%, while winds were blowing at a speed of around 3 kilometres per hour.

Weather conditions, including weak winds, can affect the dispersion of pollutants and contribute to the buildup of polluted air in urban areas.

The Meteorological Department has not forecast rain for Lahore, meaning residents should not expect immediate relief from weather-related changes.

The latest readings come as air quality remains a concern in Lahore, where pollution levels can vary considerably between different parts of the city.
