ISLAMABAD: (Suno News) The National Disaster Management Authority (NDMA) has warned of heavy rains and flooding across the country till April 29.

According to the NDMA warning, there is a forecast of heavy rains, thundershowers, and hailstorms for various cities across the country, which can also cause flooding and landslides.

NDMA says heavy rains can cause severe damage to infrastructure and crops, advising people to avoid unnecessary travel and crossing rivers and canals. It also advised people to repair dilapidated houses and ensure water drainage.

It is to be noted here that wheat harvesting was delayed due to prolonged rain in the Potohar region. Farmers in the region have complained of an exorbitant increase in the cost of the crop, saying it has doubled compared to last year due to the increase in fuel prices.

The Pakistan Meteorological Department has also warned of the arrival of a system of westerly winds which may worsen the weather conditions till April 30.

The entry of this system is likely to bring widespread rain and thundershowers to various parts of the country, especially Khyber Pakhtunkhwa (KP), Gilgit-Baltistan (GB), Galyat, Murree, and Azad Jammu and Kashmir (AJK).
