Pakistan has introduced online visa facilities for citizens of 192 countries, marking a major step toward simplifying travel and strengthening the country’s tourism and investment landscape.
The announcement was made by Federal Minister for Investment Qaiser Ahmed Sheikh while speaking at the Sustainable Tourism Forum and Expo, jointly organised by the Federation of Pakistan Chambers of Commerce and Industry (FPCCI) and the Islamic Chamber of Commerce. He said the new visa regime reflects the government’s commitment to opening Pakistan to the world.
Under the updated system, citizens of 120 countries are also eligible for visa-on-arrival, making entry into Pakistan faster and more convenient. The minister said these measures are part of a broader strategy to develop tourism as a driver of sustainable economic growth.
“These reforms will encourage international tourism and make it easier for foreign visitors to experience Pakistan’s natural beauty, diverse landscapes, and rich cultural heritage,” Sheikh said. He added that tourism can play a transformative role in job creation, trade expansion, and GDP growth.
Highlighting economic indicators, Sheikh pointed to rising industrial investment and strong performance in the stock market, saying Pakistan is steadily moving toward economic stability. He stressed that sustainability remains a key focus as the tourism sector expands.

FPCCI President Atif Ikram Sheikh emphasized tourism’s global importance, noting it contributes nearly 10 percent to the world economy. He said Pakistan stands out as a unique destination, offering all four seasons, ancient sites such as Mohenjo-daro, and a deep-rooted Sufi heritage.
Officials believe the new online visa system will help position Pakistan as an attractive global tourism hub, draw foreign investors, and unlock the sector’s long-term potential in the years ahead.
