Heavy snowfall has prompted authorities to restrict movement on the Islamabad–Murree Expressway (N-75), temporarily stopping general traffic from heading toward Murree due to worsening weather conditions.
According to an alert issued by the National Highways and Motorway Police, the district administration closed the entry point at Phoolgaran Toll Plaza after intense snowfall made the road hazardous for travel. Officials said slippery surfaces, poor visibility, and accumulating snow increased the risk of accidents, particularly on steep and hilly stretches of the route.
While general traffic has been barred, the road remains open for local residents and emergency services to ensure access for essential movement and rescue operations. Authorities said traffic management teams are on alert and monitoring conditions closely as snowfall continues in the region.
Officials have strongly advised the public to avoid unnecessary travel to Murree, warning that weather conditions can deteriorate rapidly. Snowfall not only reduces visibility but can also lead to sudden skidding, traffic congestion, and vehicle breakdowns, especially during peak hours and nighttime travel.

The closure comes amid a broader spell of winter weather affecting northern areas. Recent forecasts indicate that Murree and surrounding regions may experience prolonged snowfall, increasing the likelihood of intermittent road closures and travel disruptions over the coming days.
Travelers have been urged to keep their vehicles winter-ready, including using snow chains where necessary, maintaining adequate fuel levels, and ensuring proper heating systems. Authorities also advised citizens to follow official updates, comply with instructions from traffic police, and postpone trips until conditions improve.
Officials said further decisions regarding reopening the expressway will depend on weather conditions and road clearance efforts.
