The Benazir Income Support Programme (BISP) has firmly rejected rumours claiming that the country's largest social welfare initiative is being discontinued. BISP Chairperson Senator Rubina Khalid clarified that reports circulating on social media and other platforms about the programme's closure are false and have no official basis.

Speaking during a public e-Kacheri, Senator Rubina Khalid reassured beneficiaries that the BISP continuation remains unchanged and that eligible families will continue receiving support under the government's flagship social protection programme.

She urged the public not to believe unverified information, saying that misleading claims are creating unnecessary confusion among deserving families who rely on BISP assistance.

Rubina Khalid urges beneficiaries to ignore rumours

During the interactive session, Senator Rubina Khalid said those spreading false reports are misleading poor and vulnerable people for no valid reason. She stressed that the programme continues to operate normally and that there has been no decision to discontinue it.

She advised beneficiaries to rely only on official BISP announcements and verified communication channels for updates regarding payments, surveys and eligibility requirements.

The chairperson emphasized that false information circulating online should not discourage eligible families from remaining part of the programme or completing required registration procedures.

Programme serves all Pakistanis

During the e-Kacheri, one caller described the Benazir Income Support Programme as a national welfare initiative that serves people across Pakistan, regardless of province or political affiliation.

Responding to the comment, Senator Rubina Khalid said BISP represents the vision of Shaheed Mohtarma Benazir Bhutto to provide financial assistance to deserving and low-income families across the country.
