Rs50,000 monthly stipend for graduates under skills training programme
The initiative is designed as a structured house-job programme to help young engineers gain practical experience and develop skills needed in the professional workplace.
A total of 1,400 trainee engineers will take part in the second phase of the programme.
The first batch of 700 trainees will receive training from September 1 to September 30, 2026, while the remaining 700 will attend the programme from October 1 to October 31, 2026.
Engineers to receive Rs50,000 monthly stipend
One of the key features of the programme is financial support for participating graduates. Each trainee engineer will receive a monthly stipend of Rs50,000 throughout the programme.
The stipend is intended to support young engineers while they gain practical exposure and improve their professional skills. The programme combines industrial experience with classroom-based skills development, giving graduates an opportunity to better understand workplace demands.
Programme links graduates with industrial partners
The PEC is implementing the GET Placement Programme in collaboration with more than 60 industrial partners across Pakistan.
Through these partnerships, graduate engineers receive structured field exposure and opportunities to learn how engineering knowledge is applied in real working environments. Under the programme, trainees first complete five months of field training with industrial partners.
This is followed by one month of dedicated skills development training designed to improve their communication, leadership and workplace abilities. The model aims to give fresh graduates experience that can help them move more confidently from university education into professional careers.
Training to be held at eight centres
The one-month skills development component is being conducted five days a week at eight training centres across the country. The centres are located in Islamabad, Rawalpindi, Peshawar, Lahore, Multan, Karachi, Hyderabad and Quetta.
Holding the programme at multiple locations allows trainees from different parts of the country to participate without having to travel to a single training centre. The training focuses not only on technical knowledge but also on skills that are increasingly important in modern workplaces.
What young engineers will learn
The curriculum covers a wide range of professional and personal development areas. Trainees will receive training in communication skills, emotional intelligence, executive presence and stress management.
The programme also includes business writing, public speaking, conflict resolution and stakeholder management. Other areas include critical thinking, time management, innovation and engineering ethics.
These skills are aimed at helping young engineers communicate effectively, handle workplace challenges and make better professional decisions. The programme also seeks to improve confidence and prepare trainees for responsibilities they may face as they begin their engineering careers.
NDU to organise personality development programme
During the final week of the training, participants will also attend a one-week Certificate Programme in Personality Development. The programme will be organised by the National Defence University (NDU).

The additional training is expected to focus on improving the personal and professional qualities of young engineers as they prepare to enter the workforce. It will form part of the broader effort to equip graduates with skills beyond their academic qualifications.
PEC says programme will improve employability
PEC Chairman Engr Waseem Nazir says the GET Placement Programme is aimed at bridging the gap between academic education and professional practice. He says the initiative gives young engineers hands-on industrial exposure while also helping them develop essential workplace skills.
According to Nazir, the house-job model for engineers can play an important role in improving the employability of fresh graduates. He also says the programme can strengthen links between industry and academia and help young engineers understand the changing needs of the job market.
Focus on building a skilled engineering workforce
The PEC says it remains focused on creating meaningful professional opportunities for young engineers. The skills training programme is part of efforts to develop a workforce that is better prepared for the demands of modern industries.
For many fresh engineering graduates, the transition from university to professional employment can be challenging because academic knowledge does not always provide enough practical workplace exposure.
Programmes such as the GET Placement Programme aim to address this gap by combining field experience with professional development. The initiative could also help employers find graduates who already have basic workplace experience and understand professional standards.
What the programme means for graduates
The programme offers young engineers more than a monthly stipend.
It allows them to gain practical industrial experience, improve communication skills and develop a better understanding of professional responsibilities. The combination of five months of field training and one month of skills development provides trainees with both practical and professional exposure.
The PEC believes this approach can help graduates become more confident and job-ready while supporting the development of Pakistan’s engineering sector. The initiative is also expected to contribute to stronger industry-academia cooperation and help prepare engineers for the country’s evolving economic and technological needs.
